The Council has approved the specifications relating to the awarding of a contract for a project to aesthetically improve the entry point to the village of Maro.
A contract for this project had actually been awarded, but the company concerned failed to implement it and this meant restarting the whole administrative procedure, including seeking approval from the provincial Cultural Department as the area is designated BIC – an area of Cultural Interest.
However, approval for the modified project has been received and work could begin in October. The project has a budget of €100,000 and includes the construction of new pavements and improvements to the irrigation channels.
