The grape harvest is now underway in Jerez and it is anticipated that the yield will be similar to last year, around 100,000 tons.
Although the harvest is expected to be good and the quality of the grapes also good, the farmers face a difficult situation ahead.
The economic crisis, coupled with a complex system of European aid for farmers which has not helped get rid of previous surpluses, will mean that many will have nowhere to sell their grapes once they are harvested.
