A 50 year old woman died in the early hours of this morning after fire destroyed her home in the El Tardón area of Triana, Sevilla.
Firefighters, police and medical personnel were called to Plaza Virgen de los Dolores at around 03:30 after fire broke out at number five. The surrounding houses were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The victim, who lived alone, is thought to have been overcome by smoke and fumes. Forensic scientists are investigating the cause of the blaze.
