The Government and the autonomous communities have decided that there is no reason to adjust the start of the new academic year as a result of the Infuenza A pandemic, saying that such a move would neither protect health nor solve problems.
The new academic year will begin as scheduled throughout Spain following a meeting between Health Minister Trinidad Jiménez, Education Minister Ángel Gabilondo and representatives from Spain’s autonomous regions.
A committee will monitor the situation, both in Spain and the rest of Europe, in order to try and predict the evolution of the disease and anticipate potential problems. The committee will advise if any changes to the academic life are thought necessary at any stage in the future.
