The Councilor for infrastructure, José Alberto Tomé, has been meeting with residents of calle Jaén to discuss the proposed, and upcoming, building work in the street.
The works have a budget of €90,000 and one of the main parts of the project is an improvement to the pavements in the area and in some places the new ones will be twice the current width. Other items on the agenda will be a parking area for scooters, loading and unloading areas, the construction of underground rubbish containers and, to a certain degree, renovation of the stormwater drainage.
Calle Jaén is viewed as a major thoroughfare for pedestrians, particularly as regards passage from the Parque Verano Azul car park and the town centre. The Council is hoping that the renovations will be completed by Christmas.
