A small boat carrying six North African minors was intercepted early this morning about one and a half miles off Tarifa.
The boat, a plastic craft no more than two metres in length, was spotted at around 02:45 this morning and intercepted. The occupants were taken to Algeciras where the Red Cross was on hand to administer medical help and provide warm, dry clothing.
All the passengers were in reasonably good health and although they were wet, there were no signs of hypothermia.
According to the passengers themselves, their ages ranged from 14 years to 16 years but Red Cross officials believe one of them could be as young as 7 years old. They are now being held in Algeciras pending repatriation.
