A quieter summer for the tow trucks this year, only 447 vehicles having to be removed from the streets. Last summer the figure was 720, meaning a reduction of 34.7%.
The number of road traffic accidents in the municipality during the summer was 20, down by four on last year.
On the increase, though, was the number of stray animals, mostly dogs, having to be collected with 82 being taken into custody. The Local Police also received 16 complaints relating to dog feces on the public thoroughfares, an acute problem in some areas of town.
The total number of reports and denuncias made by the police throughout the summer months has almost doubled, 430 this year as opposed to 250 last year. The police have followed up on 192 abandoned vehicles, of which 92 were removed voluntarily by their owners, 7 were towed and the rest are pending judicial process.
A total of 19 denuncias were issued in relation to the Ley Orgánica 1/92, namely relating to street drinking, drug use on a public thoroughfare or damage to public property.
