The ruling PSOE/PSIRV government in Rincón de la Victoria has set itself a target of constructing a marina and fishing port in the municipality and this week presented the Junta de Andalucía with a feasibility report.
The feasilbility study also contains an analysis of the environmental impact of such a project.
The government see the marina and port as a means of sustainable development for the future and see such a project generating employment and increasing tourism in the area.
There are three possible sites being proposed for the marina, which would house up to 300 boats, and the Council is not bothered which one is chosen. As long as one is chosen, of course. The sites are:
- Just below the Hotel Elimar
- Cantal
- Torre de Benagalbón, just to the east of the arroyo Benagalbón
The Council claim that these facilities are something which the local residents have been requesting for a long time and hope that the project can be started as soon as possible.
