Estepona Council has just been awarded an exceptional grant of €500,000 to help towards paying outstanding municipal bills for water, electricity and telephones.
The municipal finances are not in good shape, with some €160 million owed to suppliers of numerous goods and services, including the essential utilities such as electricity. In fact, such essential services have been cut at various times.
This latest grant follows a recent €400,000 from the Provincial Government which was intended for basic infrastructure in the municipality. The mayor of Estepona, David Valadez, has expressed his gratitude for this latest cash injection as the Council struggles to make ends meet.
