Guardia Civil and Marine Rescue officers this morning intercepted a small inflatable dinghy carrying five Moroccan immigrants about 7.4 miles off Tarifa, Cádiz province.
Marine Rescue were alerted after the crew of the vessel ‘Atlántica’, travelling the Tánger-Algeciras route, reported hearing screams. Arriving at the designated coordinates, Marine Rescue found the small, inflatable rowing boat with five Moroccan males on board, one of whom was a minor.
The would-be immigrants were taken to the port of Tarifa where Red Cross officials were on hand to offer medical assistance. All five of the immigrants were said to be in good health.
