Torrox Council is in the process of handling a specific amendment to its PGOU (Plan General de Ordenación Urbana) to allow for the carrying out of a project to build a new courthouse complex.
The proposed new courthouse complex will be in La Almedina, near the underground car park, on a 2,000 square metre plot of public land. However, the Ministry of Justice selected a building project which falls outside the scope of the current PGOU.
The chosen design for the new courthouse includes a four storey structure, but the Torrox PGOU only permits three floors in total, hence the PGOU needs to be amended. The Council expects everything to be sorted out very shortly so that work on the project can begin.
Amazing how amending the PGOU appears to be relatively straightforward and quick for some municipalities but a long drawn-out process for others!
