Two Guardia Civil officers were injured on Saturday after a confrontation with a large group of vandals in Dos Hermanos, Sevilla province.
At around 20:00 in the evening, a group of between 40 and 50 people began stoning the Guardia Civil station in the Los Montecillos district, a trouble area which is the scene of frequent drugs operations. Four officers went out to try and disperse the stone throwers, two of them ending up injured.
One of the officers suffered head wounds after being beaten with a stick, the other received a stab wound to the hand. Both are currently in hospital and one is to undergo an operation on Tuesday.
The Guardia Civil were unable to make any arrests at the time because they were forced to take cover in the station, stone raining down on them from all sides, even from balconies in the area. The National Police have, however, now identified the assailants.
The Los Montecillos area is no stranger to disturbances. Back in April, a similar incident occurred when officers went to arrest a local woman on drugs charges.
