Tomorrow, Thursday October 15th, sees the start of festivities in Benamocarra in celebration of the patron of the town, Santísimo Cristo de la Salud.
The fiesta is one of the most important in the municipality and lasts until Sunday October 18th.
The festivities begin at noon with the traditional ringing of the church bells and the firing of rockets and continues with activities and workshops for the kids at the sports centre.
The official opening takes place at 22:00 in Plaza de la Constitución and is followed by a Salsa Show and demonstration.
On Friday at 18:00 there is a puppet show, ‘Las aventuras de Paneque el Valiente’, and at 22:00 it is the ‘Show Brasileño’, with dancing, drinking and fireworks.
On Saturday the festivities begin in the centre of town and at 22:00 there is a performance by the group ‘Hi Priority’. Dawn sees a performance by the pop flamenco group ‘Los Moles’.
In view of the current economic crisis, a lottery will take place on the Saturday with €300 being handed out amongst the lucky winners.
Sunday begins with a Mass at 11:00 in honour of Santísimo Cristo de la Salud and sung by the choir ‘Manantial’. Throughout the day there will be free drinks and paella plus all sorts of entertainment.
The procession through the streets takes place at 21:00 and this will be followed by a late night concert in Plaza Constitución.
