Guardia Civil and Maritime Rescue officers have rescued 37 immigrants whose boat was drifting off the Granada coast.
The immigrants called the Emergency Services after the engine on their boat stopped and they began shipping water. The craft was intercepted at 01:00 by a Guardia Civil patrol boat and the immigrants, two of whom were women, were transferred to the rescue vessel ‘Salvamar Hamal’ and taken to the port of Motril.
The immigrants, 1 Asian and 36 North Africans, were met by Red Cross officials before being taken to the local detention centre for further processing and repatriation.
