Eleven people have been arrested, including a Guardia Civil sergeant and two former police officers, in the latest operation against drug smuggling in Málaga province.
After receiving information that a shipment of drugs was due to be unloaded at Guadalmar beach, the Guardia Civil, National Police and Customs officers were on hand to seize almost a ton of hashish and arrest seven people. Helicopters and boats were also involved in the operation.
Two of the detainees are former police officers, one National and one Local, and another is a sergeant currently serving in the Guardia Civil.
This is the second drugs investigation in the province within a month which has seen police officers arrested, the first being in Nerja where two Guardia Civil officers were detained.
