Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, has made the news again with one of his remarks. Greeting an Asian businessman, Atul Patel, at a Buckingham Palace reception for 400 British Indians, the Prince looked at the name badge and remarked, ‘There’s a lot of your family in tonight’.
There are an estimated 600,000 Patels living in Britain, it being a common Indian name. The question is, had the function been in Cardiff and the Prince, seeing a badge with the name Jones on it, had made the same remark, would it have merited press coverage? One doubts it very much.
