Work on Plaza Cavana, scheduled in two phases, will begin next week with the demolition of the existing square.
The project, budgeted at €346,000, consists of demolishing the existing square and then rebuilding the area, the idea being that everything will be on one level.
The company carrying out the work is Sardalla S.A., chosen apparently because they did a ‘pretty good job in calle Carabeo’. If calle Carabeo is anything to go by, it will take twice as long as the scheduled six months completion period!
There will be disruption to traffic, pedestrians and businesses, but the Council will apparently be monitoring the situation with respect to the ongoing works in calle Carmen (Balcon de Europa) to make sure there is always some sort of access for deliveries etc.
