Today sees the start of excavations at the site of Civil War graves in Alfacar where, amongst others, the remains of the poet Lorca are believed to be buried.
Six graves are under investigation and the object of the exercise is to identify the bodies of banderilleros Francisco Galadí and Joaquín Arcollas, who were executed alongside Lorca, the tax inspector Fermín Roldán and local restorer Miguel Cobo.
The family of Garcia Lorca are opposed to the identification of the remains of the poet although they do reserve the right to carry out an identification after the exhumation at their discretion.
