The President of Andalucia, José Antonio Griñán, and the Minister for Tourism, Luciano Alonso, are in London for the opening of the World Travel Market, one of the ‘big three’ tourism fairs along with Berlin and Madrid.
The World Travel Market, held in the Westfield shopping centre, attracts around 500,000 visitors a day and continues until November 12th.
José Antonio Griñán considers the British market to be very important, with in the region of 2.3 million Britons visiting Andalucia each year, and believes a strong presence is justified, despite the economic crisis in Britain and the strength of the euro.
Red carnations, flamenco dancing, wines and ham will lure visitors to the Andalucia stand where staff will be on hand to explain the virtues of the region. There will also be a draw for eight weekend trips to Andalucia.
