The Councillor for Commerce, Jonathan Méndez, has announced that the new Municipal Council for Commerce will shortly become operational, with the Councillor himself being the chairman.
The objective of this new body is to give more possibility for participation to entrepreneurs and traders in Nerja other than through the existing Centro Comercial Abierto and Asociación de Empresarios de Nerja. Representatives of both these organisations will also be on the new Municipal Council for Commerce.
Jonathan Mendez stated that this is an advisory board and would cover such matters as advising on commercial image, occupation of public roads and anything else to improve the image of the town and, therefore, sales in the shops.
The proposal for the institution of the Municipal Council for Commerce will now be posted in the Provincial Gazette as a legal prelude to formal approval by the plenary session of the Nerja Coucil.
