The Governing Council in Andalucia is preparing a draft law relating to the use of sign language in both the public and administrative spheres.
The Ministry for Equality and Social Welfare, who proposed the bill, considers the use of Spanish sign language as a basic condition of accessibility and non-discrimination for the Andalucian population with hearing disabilities.
The future law would apply to public services and government relations, transportation, media, political participation, telecommunications and in the area of social, educational or cultural activities.
