Today sees the start of voluntary vaccinations against Influenza A for those considered to be in the ‘risk group’ in Andalucia.
A total of 1,652,325 people, that’s 20% of the population, are eligible to be vaccinated at the 1,492 centres throughout the region. These, basically, include anyone over six months old who suffers from a chronic illness plus those in public service, such as firefighters, health personnel and the security forces.
In 98% of cases involving Influenza A, the illnesss evolves into a benign form of the virus, much the same as normal flu. Andalucia has an initial stock of 600,000 doses of the flu vaccine.
People in the risk groups wanting vaccinations can call or visit their local health centre to make an appointment or call a special number for assistance, 902 505 060.
