Agricultural organisations in Jaén province have reminded farmers to comply with the employment and safety rules as the olive harvest gets underway.
Inspections relating to safety precautions and work contracts are set to increase by around 30% this year in an attempt to ensure a safe working environment.
However, all is not well within the agricultural industry and on Friday, a strike has been called in Jaén to protest against the falling prices paid to farmers for their produce, and on Saturday the protest moves to Madrid where 10,000 jiennenses are expected to attend.
