The DGT campaign relating to the use of mobile phones by drivers, carried out between November 2nd and November 22nd, has resulted in 432 people in Málaga province being reported for violations.
The Guardia Civil carried out a total of 28,009 controls during the period of the campaign, with 432 motorists found to be in breach of the law.
The DGT believes that distractions, especially the use of mobile phones while driving. are the main causes of road traffic accidents.
Up to November 23rd there have been 268 road traffic accidents in Andalucia, 8.22% less than last year, with 297 people losing their lives, a decrease of 12.39% on last year. However, a worrying fact is that 58 of the deaths were motorcyclists and this figure is already higher than the total for the whole of 2008.
