Bar and shop owners in Ronda are becoming alarmed at the recent spate of robberies being carried out in the town and are demanding more police presence in the commercial areas of the town.
A few days ago, two men were arrested in connection with 23 robberies in the town. The two men, aged 33 years and 39 years, are thought to have netted in the region of €20,000 through their endeavours. The two men have since been released pending trial.
There have apparently been eight attempted robberies in the past two weeks in the commercial centre of Ronda, all bearing the same modus operandi.
Local Police are stepping up surveillance including the use of undercover police officers in order to try an catch the robbers with their hands in the till.
