For the second time in a week in Málaga, armed men have burst into homes and held the occupants captive while demanding large sums of money.
The second case happened in La Cala del Moral in Rincón de la Victoria, but the attackers appear to have got things a bit wrong.
Two Spanish nationals were at their summer house in La Cala del Moral when the doorbell rang. Opening the door they were confronted by two armed men, both foreigners, who pushed their way in. Tying up the two Spaniards they then began to demand the whereabouts of the ‘million euros’, using violence as a means of persuasion.
The Spaniards continually denied any knowledge of large sums of money and it soon dawned on the attackers that they were at the wrong house.
Leaving their hostages tied up, the attackers left, being picked up by a third member of the gang driving a dark-coloured car.
The two hostages managed to free themselves from their shackles and ran out into the street shouting for help. A local resident heard their shouts and called the Guardia Civil.
A police cordon was set up and a vehicle answering the description of the getaway car was spotted at a control point. Police signalled it to stop but the driver ignored them and sped away. A chase ensued but the police were unable to catch the driver.
