The Junta de Andalucia has amended its budget to include amounts for both the new Health Centre in Nerja and the project to create a botanical garden near the Nerja Caves.
The budget now includes a global figure of €17 million to cover the construction of new health centres in San Pedro Alcántara, Fuengirola, Antequera and Nerja. Previously, the budget included €2.4 million for the new health centre to be constructed near the Burriana roundabout, which is no longer the case, and was based on fifty-fifty financing with the Local Council, also no longer the case.
The Junra de Andalucia are hoping the project can be put out to tender fairly shortly but they are not sure if the actual construction work will be able to begin in 2010. Currently, the Local Council is busy with the preliminary work in the area, such as the construction of an access roundabout.
On the subject of the new botanical gardens, a specific figure of €100,000 has been included in the budget for work to begin in the second half of 2010. The total budget of the project is 1.2 million.
