Real Madrid came from behind to beat Almeria 4-2 at the Bernebeu in a match which saw Cristiano Ronaldo given his marching orders after a second bookable offence.
Sergio Ramos gave Real the lead but then two goals in four minutes from Soriano and Uche put Almeria on top. Higuain levelled things and then Karim Benzema pounced after Ronaldo missed a penalty, slotting the rebound home.
Ronaldo then scored Real’s fourth but got himself a yellow card for removing his shirt. In the final minute of the match he committed a second bookable offence and was sent packing by the referee.
Two goals from Messi helped Barcelona on their way to a 1-3 victory at Deportivo, Ibrahimovic getting the third. Adrián scored the consolation goal for Deportivo.
Sevilla were held to a 1-1 draw by Valladolid. Manucho gave Valladolid the lead after 35 minutes, heading in a cross from Diego Costa.
Valladolid then lost Borja after he was sent back to the dressing room and spent the rest of the match with ten men. Just before half time, Luis Fabiano converted from the penalty spot after Navas had been fouled inside the area and that’s the way it stayed until the end.
