The State Meteorological Office (AEMET) has initiated an ‘orange alert’ in Almería and Granada and ‘yellow alert’ in Jaén for cold weather and snow as a cold Siberian weather front moves down to Spain.
The alert, in effect until 10:00 on Monday, affects Valle del Almanzora, Los Vélez, Nacimiento and Campo de Tabernas in the province of Almeria, Guadix and Baza in Granada province and Cazorla and Segura in Jaén province.
Snow in Granada could be up to eight centimetres thick in some places.
In Cantabria there could be snow above 200 metres whilst overall temperatures in Spain could drop significantly for a few days.
