An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale was felt throughout Andalucia early this morning although there are no reports of damage.
The earthquake occurred at 02:37, the epicentre being 100 kilometres off San Vicente in Portugal and at a depth of 58 kilometres. The Emergency Services were inundated with calls reporting the tremor.
There were at least six aftershocks, although these only registered at 3 on the Richter Scale. The tremor was felt as far away as Extremadura and Madrid.
In Isla Cristina, in Huelva province, the tremor was so intense that when the Local Police made their rounds, half the population were out on the streets.
