Very quiet down at Marinas del Este yesterday – bearing in mind a marina is supposed to be the salvation of the tourist industry.
A couple of places open in the morning but none of the bars or restaurants. The owner of the small mini market has decided to call it a day. He has been contemplating giving up for a very long time now, always hoping that things would change. But they didn’t.
Says a lot when the only such facility in the complex/area cannot make a go of it. The main income for a marina is, of course, mooring fees and licence fees for construction/opening permits. This remains whether there are people around or not.
