The Federación Andaluza de Autónomos del Taxi (FAAT) has called for a strike and demonstrations between 11:00 and 13:00 today in protest at article 21 of the Omnibus Law.
FAAT believes that article 21 will promote a service parallel to the taxi service which will have no set destination or price limits unlike the normal taxi service which is fully regulated.
The unmarked taxis would operate freely and without meters, prices being negotiated with the customers, and they would not be bound by any collective agreement.
FAAT sees such a move as the ruination of the normal taxi industry through unfair competition.
The protests will be on foot in order to avoid disruption to traffic and a large demonstration will be held in Madrid to coincide with the planned meeting of the Congress of Deputies.
