Two months of digging in the Parque Federico García Lorca in Alfacar and no sign yet of the remains of the poet, the banderillo Francisco Galadí or the teacher Dióscoro Galindo, all executed by Franco forces in 1936.
Excavations, being carried out by the Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory, have been centred around a memorial to the poet after radar tests showed the possibility of human remains.
The respected Hispanic historian, Irishman Ian Gibson, was not surprised that no remains have been found in the area being excavated and hopes that further digging will be carried out in an expanded area on the edge of the park.
