No leaky defence last night at the Bernabéu stadium as Real Madrid managed to keep a clean sheet and just edge victory against Zaragoza by six goals to nil.
Higuaín put Real ahead after just three minutes and then van der Vaart added two more before Higuaín grabbed his second of the evening to put Madrid 4-0 up at half time.
In the second half, Ronaldo and Benzema added two more to complete the rout and leave Zaragoza wallowing in the relegation zone.
Sevilla suffered a setback to their campaign for a Champions League spot after losing 1-2 to Getafe. Soldado put Getafe ahead in the twelfth minute and then added another to put Sevilla in big trouble.
In the second half, Negredo, on as a substitute, got one back for Sevilla but Getafe managed to hold on and secure a valuable three points. Sevilla, in third place, are now seven points adrift of second-placed Real Madrid.
