Heavy overnight rain has caused 22 roads to be closed in Andalucia this morning, including a section of highway between Jerez de la Frontera and Cádiz.
The heavy rain, 54 litres per square metre in Málaga, has caused substantial damage in almost every part of the region. Particularly badly hit has been the Bahía de Cádiz where electricity supply in several municipalities has been affected.
Roads badly hit and closed to traffic include the AL-5402 in Paterna del Río (Almeria), several roads in Cañete de las Torres and La Rambla (Córdoba), several roads in Arenas del Rey, Campotéjar and Jete (Granada), two roads in Chucena and Escacena del Campo (Huelva) and five roads in Arahal, Aznalcóllar, Castillo de las Guardas, Los Corrales and Écija (Sevilla).
The Emergency Services have been very busy answering hundreds of calls.
