A man has been rescued after he became trapped in his car and dragged 500 metres along the Río Andarax in Pechina, Almeria.
The man was attempting to remove his vehicle from its parking place in the riverbed when a strong force of water dragged the vehicle downstream.
He alerted the Guardia Civil who, along with firefighters and several local residents, eventually managed to afford a rescue.
Stranded in a raging torrent in a 100 metre wide area made the rescue very difficult and the first few attempts all failed. Fortunately, the rescuers managed to get a rope to him and he tied it round his waist, jumped in the water and was hauled to safety.
