There were 48 fewer road traffic fatalities in Andalucia during 2009 but the region still finished with the highest number of road deaths.
There were 330 fatalities on the roads of Andalucia during 2009. The number of fatalities in almost all regions was down on the previous year, the exceptions being Cantabria, up 21.1%. La Rioja, up 15.4% and Murcia, up 1.1%.
A total of 1897 people lost their lives on the roads in 2009, which is 13% less than in 2008.
Following Andalucia (330 fatalities) were:
- Cataluña – 269 fatalities
- Castilla y León – 197 fatalities
- Galicia – 165 fatalities
