Eighteen illegal immigrants were intercepted and rescued yesterday about 27 miles southeast of Cabo de Gata, Almeria after their skiff was spotted by the Marine Rescue Service.
All on board were adults and in good health.
Meanwhile, forty-three illegal immigrants were spotted by a Marine Rescue Service helicopter 17 miles south of Castelldeferro.
The passengers included one woman and four who may be minors. Tests will be carried out to determine the exact ages of the four suspected minors.
Two of the passengers needed treatment for muscle fatigue but all were generally in good health. They are now in Motril awaiting repatriation to their country of origin.
