A survey commissioned by the City Council of Vic, Barcelona, reveals that immigration is not among the main concerns of its inhabitants and, in fact, ranks ninth in the list behind unemployment, lack of parking and various other issues.
According to Barómetro Municipal de Vic 2009, immigration was cited as a prime concern by only 4.6% of those polled, compared to 13.9% who referred to unemployment and 12.1% who quoted lack of parking.
Lack of green areas (7.3%), insecurity (6.9%), lack of leisure facilities (5.8%), public transport (5.6%), cleaning (4.8%) and the lack of cultural activities (4.8%) all finished ahead of immigration as a perceived problem.
