According to Torrox Council, work on the new theatre complex in the La Rabatilla area of the town is 90% complete and the building could be officially inaugurated in the summer.
The project, which began more than two years ago, was budgeted at €7million, although amendments to the project in November added another million to the final bill.
The complex is built on a city owned plot of 2,000 square metres and will have a seating capacity for 400 people, parking for 40 vehicles, a cafeteria, administrative offices and several multi-purpose rooms.
The project has been financed by Torrox Council (€6 million), the Junta de Andalucia (€1 million) and the Málaga Provincial Council (€1 million).
However, the Council has yet to obtain funding for the 400 seats in the theatre, estimated at €230,000, but are hopeful of resolving this issue in the next couple of months.
