Four men have been arrested in the Comarca del Poniente, Almeria, on charges of trying to extort money from a local businessman.
The businessman had apparently contracted with a building merchant in El Ejido for materials and then began to receive threatening calls and visits from men demanding payment.
The victim was forced to change address after making a complaint to the police about the attempted extortion.
After the complaint was made, the company changed name and official ownership, but police were able to trace the four men who had made the threats against the businessman and his family.
The four detainees are now awaiting trial on two counts of extortion and several counts of issuing threats.
