Figures just released show that unemployment in 2009 rose by 1,118,600, an increase of 34.87% on 2008 and the total number of people out of work now stands at 4,326,500, or 18.43%.
This is the highest level since 2001 using comparable figures or the highest since 1998 using non-comparable figures. Last year saw the loss of 1,210,800 jobs.
Unemployment in Andalucia now stands at 1,034,000, 26.33% of the workforce, the number of people out of work increasing by 183,700 during 2009.
