The Provincial Court in Jaén has confirmed a one year prison sentence on a man found guilty of attacking his mother with a knife and head-butting a Guardia Civil officer who tried to intervene.
The defendant had been living with his mother and brother at the family home in Huelma when, on October 5th 2009, he came home, kicked the door and then threatened his mother with a knife. The brother, who was also threatened, left and went into the street to call the police.
Guardia Civil and Local Police officers arrived at the residence and, while trying to prevent the accused from getting hold of more weapons, one of the officers received a blow to the head.
