Since the management of the Nerja Caves Foundation passed to the Opposition PSOE leader Angel Ramírez and the Town Hall ceased to receive its 10%, there has been much posturing, party political bickering and now, calls for Ramirez to cease as manager of the Foundation.
The Councillor for Education and Culture, Angélica Portillo (PP), is the latest to lay the blame for delays in the Nerja History Museum firmly on Angel Ramírez.
The Councillor is asking for the Junta de Andalucia to become involved in the financing of the Nerja History Museum. She pointed out that during election campaigns in 2008, the Minister of Culture, Rosa Torres, visited the museum with Angel Ramírez yet no funding agreement was agreed.
The Councillor added that in Vélez-Málaga, the Junta de Andalucía was persuaded to provide 50% of the funding for the new Centro de Arte Contemporáneo and she blames Ramirez for the inability to arrange similar funding for the museum.
No doubt there will be some sort of response within a few days, as seems to be the norm. Just a shame they can’t all work together for the benefit of the community rather than engaging in political diatribe.
