Strikes in the construction industry in seven provinces in Andalucia are set to take place today and tomorrow with another four days of action planned later this month and in March.
UGT and CC.OO members not receiving the agreed national pay increase have been called to industrial action and this will affect around 270,000 workers.
Further strikes are planned on February 24th and 25th and March 10th and 11th.
On the one hand, the workers are only striking in order to receive what has already been agreed nationally. On the other hand, the construction industry has been a huge, and in some areas seemingly the sole, beneficiary of government billions during the recession, often to the detriment of other sectors.
