Police in Portugal have found a total of half a ton of explosives, mostly ammonium nitrate, and numerous bombs ready for use in the house in Obidos which was, until very recently, occupied by two suspected ETA members.
The house had been rented by two suspected ETA members for several months in what the authorities believe was an attempt to rebuild an infrastructure in Portugal.
Police are now looking for two men, Andoni Zengotitabengoa Fernández and Oier Gómez Mielgo, both of whom have a history of arrests and convictions for street violence. Andoni Zengotitabengoa Fernández has been on the run since 2003 after absconding following his conviction for street violence in 2000. He received a 13 year prison sentence.
