In June 2009, the latest available figures show that there were a total of 40,154 Andalucians on the waiting lists of hospitals for non-urgent surgery and all are within the guaranteed maximum waiting period of 180 days.
According to the latest report, the average delay before undergoing surgery was 55 days. Included in the total are 5,799 people who registered for surgery but have subsequently lost their place in the queue due to unreasonable voluntary delay or failure to turn up for an appointment.
Of the remaining 43,355 patients, 37,266 are on 0 to 60 day standby for an operation, 13,354 are on the waiting list for 61 to 120 days and 2,735 are in the 121 to 180 day delay group.
The latest report states that none of the 43,355 patients has exceeded the maximum 180 day waiting time.

Sevilla – 11,801 waiting, average delay 58 days
Málaga – 10,888 waiting, average delay 56 days
Cádiz – 6,250 waiting, average delay 52 days
Granada – 5,490 waiting, average delay 61 days
Córdoba – 4,549 waiting, average delay 51 days
Huelva – 3,466 waiting, average delay 56 days
Almeria – 3,449 waiting, average delay 48 days
Jaén – 3,261 waiting, average delay 46 days
