Eighteen people have been arrested in connection with a multi-million euro VAT fraud, the detentions taking place in Málaga, Madrid, Granada and Melilla.
The organisation was based in Málaga province and involved fictitious sales between related companies with a subsequent request for a VAT refund.
The investigation began one year ago and culminated in the arrests of the eighteen individuals, ten in Málaga province, six in Granada, one in Madrid and one in Melilla.
The first raids were centred on two companies in Benalmadena and Vélez-Málaga and computers containing details of the fraud plot were seized. One of the companies was involved with the sale of computers and gaming machines.
The fraud is said to involve millions of euros.
