More evacuations due to flooding

The rio Guadilquivir continues to rise and around 400 people have had to be evacuated from their homes due to the threat of flooding.

In Sevilla, 70 families have had to leave their homes in Lora del Río and areas around the capital are also threatened with residents in the shanty settlements in Charco de la Pava area being evacuated during the night.

In Utrera, high winds have also been causing damage. Trees have been uprooted in parks and farms have lost dozens of olive trees.

In Córdoba, almost 100 homes have had to be evacuated in the area around the airport and in Alcolea.

A cave house in Beas de Guadix, Granada, collapsed following a hillslide, as did four other cave houses in Cortes and Graena. Fortunately there were no injuries.

There are 84 reservoirs in Andalucia and 70 are now dumping water as a precautionary measure.
