Torrox Council has approved the incorporation into the municipal heritage of the area around the old San Rafael sugar mill.
Until now, the old mill was owned by the Larios company. It is a 40,000 square metre plot and under the old 1996 PGOU there were plans for car parking, cultural areas, open spaces and a number of houses.
Under the previous socialist government of Francisco Muñoz, a planning agreement was signed to build a four star hotel and luxury housing, but the present government is looking to restore some of the old buildings and turn it into an area which can be enjoyed by both residents and tourists.
